The Week of Reckoning

9 more days to the day of reckoning, still doing the final touch up to this whole Sontoloyo Complexities. Especially to the Biennale crew who are slogging their asses up to the unholy brim of insanity, I salut. Receiving emails at 2am in the morning, finalising things on a Sunday evening.

I am not sure what is going to happen, that's the most interesting thing about art, you plunge into the realm of the unknown, you come out, its either you get punch on the face and you just keep on doing it over and over again.

Jenny Holzer's Projection will be up on that night, Yayoi Kusama will be showing her works as well, and Sontol will be up around 22:15hrs right before DJ Damien Saint. And bloody hell, these women are all legends man. They make my knees turn jelly ya all..

Sontol Al Loyo is my tribute to the fiilth and creed of Popular Culture who has turned me into this humanoid. And of course, Art School is officialy dead, so ... once you are in an art college, you are a qualified true blue artisan.

To quote from Sontol AL Loyo ," DESTROY!"

Sedated Sunday

Enroute at Bar Baa Black Chic (hope I got that one right), was pretty much a numb tingling affair if not for some old friends and awesome concoction of hell juice to save the night. But I have never gotten my armpit sweaty in a club for just standing still, that club was mega hot, probably because of the ceiling which was low and the half baked podium with illuminated chic lights did not help either, or perhaps of the monstrous smoke machines.

Enough said, this morning I woke up with a gong in my head, despite the nauseating hoo hum, I managed to drag my feet to the Library Book Fair, and I was awed to see a large number multi-racial maniacal families on no holds barred book binge. Really... I'm not joking, I was there to witness future intellects and computer whiz rampaging through piles and piles of books, there were loads and loads of computer books and magazines.

There was an auntie with a market trolley full of books, and she was holding on to a book entitled 'Discover Jamaica', yeah of course, she must be a Rastafari devotee, so Jah! to her.

Well to end this patriotic week, I must say we are of course an intelligent nation, but there must be a good reason why do we still have super lame TV programmes on Channel 5?

Puke blood man ...

Sontol Al Loyo's Hall of Fame

Sontol Al Loyo: The Elegy of a Man and His Weapon of Choice

An investigation of the self being represented through ‘devised’ fictional characters based on selected musical genres. Using exaggeration, irony, humour and satire to capture the notion of a 'poser' as the main form of engagement. Encapsulating the varied trait, posture, circumstances and situations in questioning the idea of pretence in relations to contemporary culture.

In Slumber

I never realised how much I have owed my sleep till yesterday, came back home at around 10.30pm and collapsed, woke up about 7am, had a glass of orange juice and slept again. Yes, I am tired, but I need those hours to charge myself again, thank god, there are no classes to teach this week, so I feel a little bit relax.

Yeah, here am I again up. up and away. I need to do some running, love handles are starting to appear around my waist, the wrinkles around my eyes are like texture of dried prunes. KL was pretty alright, except that this time round I thought the crowd was pretty tame, perhaps the same people have grown older, maybe matured by the age.

I need to get back to my studies nevertheless, I have been spending so much time on doing things which I know I should not be doing. But knowing myself, distraction are my vices, let's see if we can pull this through again.
