Me and The Banshees

This was taken last year during their fabulous final presentation, I called them The Twisted Sisters, they did an ago-go number that was a slave to the grind. As you can see, most of my students are taller than me, but that adds the fun nevertheless...

Karkinos and Papa

The past couple of weeks I have been sending my dad for his medical appointment, I have never realised the crazy waiting game at the hospital. The number of people who are sick coming in for appointments in the clinic, from the rate we are waiting, I believe people will die even before they get to their next appointment.

My dad is a sort of person who doesn't tell anyone if he's sick, he likes to keep it to himself. Now, the doctor has discovered some rectal cancer in his system. It is at stage 3, we are all praying, hope that he can recover soon. It is going to be a journey for him and all of us...

The Last Pixies

MOODS at Clarke Quay, New Year's Eve, I had a headache soaking in the atmosphere, I had to stand close to the nearest wall to avoid myself from fainting. I am having difficulties dealing with large crowd these days.

Plus Nueva's dressing room, yes, big and roomy...I was invited to be the guest dancer, but its more like a favour for a friend.

Plus Nueva's soundcheck at The Esplanade, an interesting musical project by Bob Kamal, who was also the music producer for KYTV's POP Station in 2004.

Elektone had a rather soothing set, last December, for the Elektrolab session at The Esplanade. I knew Bach since he had the notorious Eddie Vedder hairstyle and he sessioned for a couple of times with Tiramisu.

ISMAIL HARON, The legacy

The living legacy, the man behind songs such as Ilham Pujangga (Thinker's Inspiration) and Ku Tiada Minta Lahir Di Dunia (I Never Asked to be Born Into This World), ok, all these are direct translations, I would like to apologise if there is a lost in translation somewhere. I am planning to create a musical/docudrama piece based on his life, together with good people from Flannel Mag and Syed Ahmad (Stoned Revivals, Tiramisu, Wicked Aura)

For more info which is not much info about Ismail Haron.

Two O O Eight

I haven't been updating my blog for the longest time, maybe I'm just lazy or perhaps my mind is shifting towards something else. 2008 is going to be a great year I believe, the year of manhood, a new phase, a resignation to the excess of living and finding a purpose, finding 'The Way'.

The gig at The Esplanade went pretty alright, the fact that it felt like performing in a TV studio, we had loads of fun, and partly because of that I took a week off and did nothing except spending some precious time with my loved ones.

The forecast for this year:

April: Circus For Now (A collaborative performance featuring Noor Effendy, Joavien Ng and Sabrina Annarhar)
June: Temple (A Theatre piece with Cake Theatre) My relationship with Cake is like a yearly affair.
July: AMK sec NOMAD festival (An Arts Festival where currently I am grooming the kids to be part of this big event)
Sept: Reservoir (with Ka5 directing plus Norico Sunayama, Yi-Sheng and Pat Toh)
Nov: Another show with Cake and Finger Players (TBC)

Plus, a show I am currently proposing for my residency at 72-13 entitled 'In Search of Ismail Haron.', finishing up Tiramisu's Album, directing another piece with Cake and of course, the biggest event of my life which is MY WEDDING!

Let's get excited!
